நம் சம்பிரதாயத்திற்கு வேதங்களே பிரதானமாக உள்ளது. வேதங்கள் பிரம்மத்தையும், பிரம்மம் வேதத்தையும் ஒன்றை ஒன்று சார்ந்து உள்ளன. வேதங்கள் நாம் பின்பற்ற வேண்டிய நியதிகளை கூறுகின்றன.

வேதங்கள் செய் என்று சொன்னவைகளை செய்வதும் செய்யாதே என்று சொன்னவைகளை செய்யாமல் இருப்பதும் புண்ணியம் எனப்படும். அதேபோல் வேதங்கள் செய் என்று சொன்னவைகளை செய்யாமல் இருப்பதும் செய்யாதே என்று சொன்னவைகளை செய்வதும் பாவம் எனப்படும்.

பாவங்களும் புண்ணியங்களும் கர்ம பலன்களாக நம்முடைய வாழ்க்கையை நடத்தி செல்கிறன.     பாவ புண்ணியங்களை கர்மாக்கள் என்றும் கூறுவதுண்டு.  கர்மாக்கள் தொலைந்தால் நாம் முக்தி அடைகிறோம். அப்படி செய்யும் போது பாவ புண்ணியங்கள் இல்லாத நிலையை அடைந்து,  நாம் முக்தி அடைந்து, மறுபிறப்பு இல்லாமல், பிரம்மத்தை / பகவானை அடைகிறோம்.

நம் கர்ம பலன்களை துறந்து பிரம்மத்தை அடையவேண்டியதே ஒவ்வொரு உயிரின் ஒரே குறிக்கோளாக இருக்க வேண்டும் என்று வேதங்கள் உரைக்கின்றன.

Vedam

Vedas are the main pillars for our belief systems (samprathaayam).    Vedas point to Brahmam as the God and the Brahmam says that we need to follow what Vedas instruct us.

So as human beings, we need to follow what Vedas instruct us to do and avoid doing things which are not permitted by vedas.  If we follow the above two, we ‘do’ things approved by both Vedas and Brahmam.  Those things get classified as Good Deeds or Punniyam.

Similarly if we attempt to do things which are not permitted by Vedas or avoid doing things that are required to be done by us as per Vedas, then we get into the wrong side of Vedas and Brahmam, or displease both of  them by disobeying what is said in Vedas.   These result in Bad deeds or Paavam.

Both Punniyam (Results from good deeds) and Paavam (Results from bad deeds) are called as our Karmas.   If we get rid of all Karmas (both Good and Bad) then we attain a state of non-birth.  At that state we reach brahmam and be with Him for ever.

This should be the only Goal for all, as per the Vedas.  So what is next ?
